Copying what someone who is living a life that looks different to yours is likely to be unsustainable.

Find a training plan or coach that works WITH not against you, that understands your responsibilities, your workload, family life, mental load. 

I haven’t done an early morning workout in years because it doesn’t fit with my toddlers 5am wake ups BUT we recently got him a wake clock and it *might* mean that morning Pelotons or at home workouts can happen again. 

My mileage is very low right now due to sleep deprivation and childcare options but I’m loving the mum & baby workouts. 

Just because you’re seeing someone post online about some of their training doesn’t mean you’re seeing the whole picture, their training history, recovery and support system.

What caught your eye? Basically I’m a sucker for a pretty shoe so immediately I loved the @on Cloudsurfer 2 and @asicsrunning Lilac Nimbus 28.

In terms of technical kit the gravel shoe options (a blend of road and trail) really excite me for my Thames towpath runs that are just too traily for road shoes at this time of year. And @salomonrunning are having a bit of a moment aren’t they?

Oh and I’m never leaving the running show without a new bra to test (this new pink @teampebe is one for Pilates and yoga for me rather than running!)

Exercise induced rosacea 😳

It took me a couple of years to get diagnosed with rosacea (I thought I had acne from wearing a mask so much) and so I was doing all the wrong things for a while and making it worse.

Exercise doesn’t cause rosacea but for me it’s a major trigger alongside alcohol, heat and stress. It’s caused by a combination of genetics (thanks Celtic genes!) inflammation and overactive blood vessels. Mine actually started after doing IVF thanks to the hormones. 

What I do now to reduce rosacea triggers: 
- wear sun cream everyday 

- avoid harsh chemicals on my face 

- switched to a gel based moisturiser and use a gentle serum twice a day

Working with my skin and not against it has really helped reduce flare ups. I also use a green tinted moisturiser before make up to reduce the redness.
