“Tunisia is dangerous and unstable”
“There’s nothing to see beyond the resorts”
“It’s conservative and very restrictive”

We’ve just spent 2 weeks road tripping around Tunisia from South to North and have found quite the opposite to these statements.

❌ “Tunisia is dangerous and unstable” - This likely stems from regional tensions and historical t****rist attacks. But Tunisia is actually considered one of the safer North African countries for tourists and we didn’t once feel unsafe or at risk during our time there.

❌ “There’s nothing to see beyond the resorts” - It feels like a crime to visit Tunisia and only stick to a resort. This country surprised us in so many ways, from the dramatic desert landscapes of the south to the rolling green hills and ancient Roman history of the north.

❌ “It’s conservative and very restrictive” - We were so pleasantly surprised to learn that Tunisia is actually one of the most progressive countries in the region. With strong legal rights and access to education and work, particularly for women. In cities such as Tunis, it actually feels incredibly liberal.

Tunisia gave us one hell of an adventure and surprised us in so many ways. It was beautiful, challenging and chaotic, but all the best adventures are 👏🏼

This is the ultimate Tunisia road trip, taking you way beyond the tourist resorts and to the heart of what this country has to offer.

This route starts in the dramatic desert landscapes of the south, stopping at iconic Star Wars filming sites and then heads north, where you’ll explore rolling green hills, Roman ruins and ancient cities.

We recommend that you spend at least 2 weeks on this route for it to not feel rushed. The best time of year is definitely shoulder seasons either September - November or March - May for ideal temperature.

🛫 From the UK there are low-cost direct flights to Djerba, where we started and ended this trip. Alternatively, you could fly in/out of Tunis or Enfidha.

🚘 Driving conditions in Tunisia can be hectic, especially in cities. We found the South to be easier for driving than the North.

Carmarthenshire is a region in Southwest Wales, that offers visitors a little bit of everything. Including stunning beaches, dramatic coastline, rolling hills, unique stays and ancient castles.

Whilst we think that all of Wales is incredibly underrated, Carmarthenshire takes the number one spot. It’s peaceful, dramatic and surprisingly affordable too. Especially if you visit outside of the summer season.
