Upcoming Exhibition:

Davinia-Ann Robinson
‘Through an Embodied Practice of Stillness’
16 Sept-20 Dec 2025

Launch Event: Sat 20 Sept 11am-1pm FREE All Welcome!

‘Through an Embodied Practice of Stillness’ is a new series of sculptural installations, soundscapes and film work by Stanley Picker Fellow Davinia-Ann Robinson, which explores encounters with stillness through the body’s engagement with somatic practices and raw and reclaimed clay.

The exhibition explores how racial trauma is held within Black and Brown bodies through ancestral, intergenerational and present-day encounters with ‘white-body supremacy’ and how embodied engagements between the body and clay can be conduits for undoing and dismantling racial trauma.

A programme of FREE associated events will run throughout the exhibition. Details to be announced.

We are very excited to announce that Kat Anderson and Emma Hart have been appointed to the Stanley Picker Fellowships in Art & Design 2025.

Selected through public open call from over 300 applications, this year’s panel included previous Stanley Picker Fellow Larry Achiampong, arts consultant Kath Wood and our Gallery Director David Falkner.

Emma Hart makes exuberant ceramic sculptures, which test the limits of the medium, pushing clay to go beyond being a vessel. Hart’s vivid sculptures actively confront the viewer, often by jutting out from the wall or physically encroaching on the viewer’s personal space. Hart’s work has recently focused on the use of speech in relation to class and upbringing.

Kat Anderson is a visual artist, musician and filmmaker, currently working under an artistic and research framework called ‘Episodes of Horror’, which uses the genre of horror to discuss historic and contemporary representations of mental illness and trauma as experienced by or projected upon Black bodies in media and greater society.

Visit our website for information on these and all our previous Stanley Picker Fellowship recipients.
