According to BMI… I’m “obese.”

But here’s the part most people don’t know.

BMI wasn’t created by a doctor. It was developed in the 1800s by mathematician Adolphe Quetelet to study population averages, not individual health.

It only looks at height and weight.
It doesn’t measure:

• muscle vs fat
• fat distribution
• hormones
• inflammation
• metabolic health

It also wasn’t designed around female physiology.

Women experience natural fluctuations from cycles, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and conditions like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome that can affect weight, water retention, and insulin sensitivity.

Yet BMI puts everyone into the same box.

Real health markers look very different:

• waist circumference
• muscle mass
• insulin sensitivity
• energy levels
• hormonal balance

BMI might work for population statistics. But it’s a very blunt tool for understanding women’s bodies.

Your health is more complex than a height to weight equation.

If you have PCOS, what you do after you eat matters just as much as what you eat.

One of the simplest habits I teach my clients is this:
take a 10 to 15 minute walk after meals.

When you walk, your muscles pull glucose out of the bloodstream and use it for energy. This helps prevent large blood sugar spikes and reduces the amount of insulin your body needs to release.

For women with PCOS, that matters.
Because high insulin is one of the main drivers behind stubborn belly fat, cravings and hormone imbalance.

You do not need extreme workouts.
Sometimes the most powerful strategy is simply moving your body consistently throughout the day.

Eat your meal.
Go for a walk.
Support your hormones.

Small habits. Big shifts.
