Growing up in the 80s and 90s, the streetlights coming on meant it was time to go home. Comment “SMART” for a link to this handy gadget! Now every evening, our backyard lights come on automatically with the Caséta by @lutronelectronics Outdoor smart plug and the only place we need to be, is exactly right here. Just plug your string lights into the smart plug and plug that into the wall. I set the scene and created a schedule for them to turn on and off in the Lutron app! Sometimes we’re already outside and the lights coming on tell us to stay put longer. Sometimes we see them glowing from inside and then we end up back outside all over again. And this is my favorite part. Yes, it’s handy for hosting. But I think my favorite summer nights are the ones without a guest list when it’s just the four of us outside after dinner, throwing the ball for Mr. Ranger or even enjoying a summer storm.
