Being able to provide a home for Jack and Maisie to stay together and getting to see their bond everyday was just beautiful ❤️

As a lot of you know, in the entire 4 months they were at the rescue centre, Jack and Maisie as a pair had only one other enquiry prior to me. But there were actually quite a few enquiries asking for just Maisie (dachshunds being a popular breed) even though the rescue made it clear they were a bonded pair and inseparable. Jack was already losing his hearing and eyesight, and Maisie was his everything, so it still baffles me that there were enquiries asking to split them up. Plus, Jack was utterly gorgeous and the sweetest boy.

I will always be so glad that they found a home together, and I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to see how much they loved each other. Bonded dogs is a love in its purest, most beautiful form, especially when they’re older.

Here’s a few things about their bond that I’ll always cherish ♥️

• The way they’d always curl up together, often their heads resting on each other. When I got them I bought them a bed each, but I can barely think of a time where both were in use
• Jack loved to groom Maisie and she’d nudge his head to encourage him. We joked that she was at Jacks Salon and that’s what kept her curly perm!
• When Jacks hearing went, he’d watch and follow Maisie’s cues. He couldn’t hear me coming down the stairs, but when her tail started wagging, his would too
• Their patience with each other, even when one of them clambered over the other one to cuddle up. They always allowed space for each other
• Our walks - Maisie in front and Jack running along behind. When Jack slowed down, Maisie would stop and wait for us.
• The way they’d always glance at each other when something exciting was happening
• The many evenings on the sofa with both of them asleep on me

Going through these videos was tough, but what an absolute treasure it is to have them ♥️

ad Chocolate and Fleur de Sel Salt truffles

These silky, decadent chocolate truffles are perfect to make for someone special (yourself included!) this Valentine’s Day. Made even more delicious with @saunierdecamargue, a little pinch of salt enhances the flavour of the chocolate by balancing sweetness, softening cocoa’s bitterness, and bringing out its rich depth.

These crunchy, 100% natural sea salt flakes are hand-harvested in Aïgues Mortes, south of France, by salt artisans called ‘sauniers’ over just six summer weeks, and trust me - you can taste how special they are.

250g double cream
250g good quality dark chocolate, broken into pieces
30g butter
50g cocoa powder
A few pinches of Le Saunier de Camargue Fleur de Sel

1. Heat the cream and the butter in a pan until simmering and the butter is melted
2. Remove from the heat, and add the chocolate. Stir until it’s fully melted and the ganache is silky smooth
3. Sprinkle 2 pinches of Le Saunier de Camargue Fleur de Sel and stir until combined
4. Pour the ganache into a bowl, cover with clingfilm and let it set in the fridge for 4-6 hours
5. When ready to coat the truffles, pour cocoa powder and a pinch of Le Saunier de Camargue Fleur de Sel onto a plate
6. Roll spoonfuls of the set ganache into balls (expect to get a bit messy!) and then each one over the plate of salt and cocoa powder until completely coated
7. Keep them refrigerated until ready to enjoy or gift to someone
