looking at the shots of all four of us makes me so emotional, sometimes i just can’t believe i’m a mum. a mother to two gorgeous babies, who are growing up so fast 🥹😭 this year has been pretty exhausting so far - lots of illnesses, not much time for me to rest, and even less time for us to do things as a family as rob’s shifts have felt even longer and busier… so a chance to head to the seaside was so welcome. the fresh air did us good 🌊

here’s everything i got for my sister-in-law’s @freyaawickham baby shower gift! 🎀 i absolutely loved putting this together from the perspective of a mama who can look back and see the items that truly made a difference, that i loved, or couldn’t be without! for baby: i had already passed on bags of blue and drew’s baby clothes, cot and other baby items, but i wanted baby to have have something brand new (the cutest set from @marksandspencer bought in the sale). plus i found a @thewhitecompany elephant toy and winnie the pooh book in the charity shop, and gifted a beautiful @ettaloves muslin that i had never used. for postpartum: @hotteamama tea and graze snacks for hydration and hunger while breastfeeding, a sheet mask for a moment of calm, paracetamol as you never want to be without, and some disposable breast pads to have on standby. for the nappy caddy: a selection of wipes so she can test out until she finds her favourite, @naty nappy sacks and @metaniumuk everyday ointment. for labour: if you know me, you know an eye mask was my number one labour item, so i had to include one for her! plus some compression socks and a handy scrunchie and clip. other essentials i love: @nalasbaby body wash, @miltonbabyuk wipes, @ashtonandparsons teething powder, and @sterimaruk breathe easy. there was so much more i wanted to to include, but i had to stop somewhere! and there is so much more support i hope to give once baby is here 🤍
recently i’ve had three people say this in response to me personally, or when talking about mums in general, including someone who is a mother herself. to be honest, it’s broken my heart a little ☁️ i feel like i could sit and talk for hours about modern motherhood, the expectation to do it all, the mental load, being a default parent, breaking generational cycles and gender stereotypes… …but for now, i’d just love to know your thoughts? 💭
