The ABCDE rule is a simple checklist for spotting potential melanoma skin cancer A-Asymmetry (one half doesn't match the other) B-Border (uneven, ragged edges) C- colour (varied shades like brown, black, red, white, blue) D-Diameter (larger than a pencil eraser, ~6mm), and Evolving (changing in size, shape, color, or feeling different). Last Christmas took an unexpected twist when Otis (age 6 at the time) fractured 3 Metatarsals on his right foot on an escalator at Oxford Circus underground station, after watching the palladium pantomime. It’s not something I spoke about much at the time as I was so angry at myself for not spotting him put his foot under the brush (like he was cleaning his shoe), and then before I knew it he had caught his foot. Escalators are incredibly dangerous, especially for children, so please keep your kids feet away from the edges. Luckily kids bounce back fast and Otis recovered in less than 6 weeks, but it was a big lesson for us all to learn 🥹😭😢 #escalator #kidsonescalators
