The first recipe I ever made in my herbal remedy journey was calendula salve and it has become one of my favorite things to make from the garden. Calendula is one of the easiest medicinal herbs to grow and the salve is incredibly simple.
Recipe
6 oz calendula-infused oil
1.5 oz beeswax
10 drops tea tree oil (optional)
Melt together, pour into containers, and allow to cool completely before using.

One of my favorite ways to use the garden is to turn a quick harvest into a meal.

Today I harvested fresh ingredients using my Fiskars Harvest Basket, Micro-Tip Snips, and Hand Pruners. I love having the right tool for each job.

One of my favorite features of the Fiskars Harvest Basket is being able to rinse produce right in the basket before bringing it into the house. It helps wash away dirt and any little garden hitchhikers that may have found their way in while keeping everything contained in one place.

I’ve been using @fiskarsamericas tools in my garden for years. Fiskars has been making tools for more than 375 years and has built a reputation for durable, reliable products that gardeners trust season after season. I appreciate having tools that are comfortable to use and built to last.

Tonight’s meal was Garden Shrimp Orzo
Ingredients
• 2 cups cherry tomatoes
• 1 onion, diced
• 1 bell pepper, diced
• 4 cloves garlic, minced
• 1½ cups orzo
• 2 cups broth
• 2 cups spinach
• 12 jumbo shrimp
• Basil, salt, pepper & paprika

Directions
1. Season shrimp with salt, pepper, and paprika. Sauté in 1 tbsp oil for about 2 minutes per side. Remove from pan.
2. In the same pan, cook onion and pepper until softened. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
3. Add a splash of broth to deglaze the pan.
4. Stir in orzo and toast for 2 minutes.
5. Add tomatoes and remaining broth. Cover and simmer 10 minutes.
6. Stir in spinach until wilted.
7. Return shrimp to the pan, top with basil, and serve

If I only had one raised bed and wanted maximum food production through a Florida summer, this is exactly what I’d plant.

Long beans on a trellis for vertical production
Egyptian spinach for heat-loving greens
Everglades tomatoes for reliable summer fruit
Sweet potatoes as a living mulch and food crop
Okra because it absolutely thrives in hot weather.

Summer gardening isn’t about fighting the heat, it’s about growing crops that actually love it. Comment Planner and I’ll DM you my free garden planner for planting charts and seasonal timing.
