On Sky News this morning, I said that if Keir Starmer were to block Andy Burnham from running, it would make him look like he’s running scared.

Well, that’s exactly what has unfolded

When a leader openly blocks another because they feel challenged, it rarely communicates strength. It communicates insecurity.

If you’re a custodian of a political party, there’s a strong argument that the final decision should sit with the people you serve. Let the electorate decide.
Golf’s got a bit of a PR problem and one of the issue is time!

Eighteen holes can take 4 hours or more… and for a lot of people, that’s just too much.

So I loved visiting @mad_swans , a new 12-hole course in the Mendip Hills that’s rethinking the game for modern life. It’s part of a bigger centre with cabins, padel, pickleball etc. that’s for another day.

The course was challenging, with some lovely holes. Just redesigned for modern life, with a good hour shaved off!

It got me thinking! That innovation doesn’t mean throwing tradition away. It means adapting it so it still fits the world we’re in now.

Sometimes the future isn’t about inventing something new…It’s about redesigning the 18 holes.

And for the record — I LOVE playing 18 holes (always will!)

But I can also see how a shorter game opens the door for more people to fall in love with it too.

September was a packed month… family visits, birthday, food in my belly, love, laughs, golf and the events that’s been part of my vision for a while.

Now it’s October, isn’t the year flying?

In this world that often feels like everything is going off the rails, where life is more of a rollercoaster than this video shows and sometimes I have to gather the pieces of myself to keep aiming high. I am reminded to be grateful.

So much to be thankful for.

Hello October! I think you’ll be fun.
Last week, I hosted a golf evening for senior women and emerging leaders, some of whom had never picked up a club before.

And it was brilliant.

Golf has given me so much: space to think, to grow, to reflect, and to lead with a different kind of presence. It requires mindset, patience, and self-discipline… and it offers the kind of calm confidence we don’t always get in busy careers.

This wasn’t about perfect swings, it was about showing up, trying something new, and seeing what golf could unlock for you.

Visibility, confidence, connection… and honestly, just joy.

Huge love to the incredible women who came @ivonesima @rsolounova @katehopper @byphyllisia — and massive thanks to @uagolf and @theloopgolfconnected @mickyh_1970 for helping bring the night to life. The beanies and gloves were brilliant. @lloydwilliamsgolf for giving the gift of a proper club grip and my mini-lesson! @greenwich.peninsula is a beautiful venue!

Might have to run it back… 👀⛳️In fact, we will definitely be doing it again, I will keep you posted!
