Would you spend the night in a Tudor castle? @thornburycastle (Gifted stay)

I spent the night in the same room as Henry VIII!

This is Thornbury castle in England, the only Tudor castle that you can stay overnight in. It was built by Edward Stafford in the early 16th century and confiscated after he was executed by Henry VIII for treason.

Henry and Anne Boleyn stayed at the castle for roughly 10 days in 1535 during their royal progress, they were actually meant to stay in nearby Bristol, but due to a plague outbreak had to stay at Thornbury instead.

It was also visited a handful of times by the daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon - Queen Mary I, when she was a child.

It now operates as a luxury hotel and what an incredible stay!

Have you ever had a ghostly experience in a hotel? I want to know about it ⬇️

This is what happens when you let the weird history girl pick the girls trip locations. You end up staying in a 500 year old Tudor Castle that’s probably haunted!

Would you go inside alone?

A narrow passage carved into the rock leads down to a natural cave used since prehistoric times. It gets steeper, darker, and more slippery with every step, and at the bottom, centuries of graffiti cover the walls like a timeline of every soul brave enough to make it down.

But the cave isn’t even the darkest part of the story.
This castle changed hands through betrayal, rebellion, and siege. A mother handed it to the English just to spite her own son. Owain Glyndŵr attacked it with 800 men and still couldn’t take it. After the Wars of the Roses, 500 men were sent specifically to tear it apart stone by stone.

And through all of it, legend says a warrior sleeps beneath the castle waiting to be called by the Welsh. Some say it’s Arthur himself or one of his knights.

Standing here, soaked from the rain, staring into that cave… honestly? You start to believe it.
