The money saving (and safety tip) you didn’t know you needed😅

I clean the primary filter of my tumble dryer every load but I can’t lie, it’s been ages since I did this one.

My clothes started taking AGES to dry so I looked into it and this filter was full of soggy lint. This stuff is a big fire risk and also means that you’re using a lot more energy to dry your clothes.

It can double the time it takes to dry your clothes if this is blocked up like this. Meaning double the cost for the same job.

Which in this day and age we can’t afford to be wasting!

Apparently you should clean this once I week or every 10-15 cycles, which I’ve defo not been doing.

You need to make sure it’s fully dry before I goes back in, so either leave it outside to dry through the day or leave it overnight. Ideally between 12-24 hours of drying time is apparently recommend.

Save this reel for later and send to remind a friend too!

How often do you clean this in your house?

Part two of renovating my garden because I’m too tight to pay a landscaper⬇️

Today we’re doing the prep work ready for our patio and let me tell you it was GRAFT.

This part wasn’t massively expensive but it was definitely the hardest part so far.

If you’re looking at doing a garden reno make sure you check for recycled hardcore as it was half the price compared to normal.

Next up we are laying the patio so make sure you save this reel and follow @budgetingmumofficial for part 3 of our garden renovation.

ad How many books do your children actually own? 📚

Because I can’t stop thinking about the fact that 1 in 10 children in the UK don’t own a book of their own.

And what really got me is there’s actually a link between reading from a young age and confidence with money later in life.

I went to see the Library of No Returns, created by @experian_uk in partnership with the National Literacy Trust and it honestly just made me reflect on how powerful something so simple can be.

Kids can walk in, pick a book and take it home to keep.

And as a parent it does make you think. Reading together feels small in the moment, but it can make such a huge positive impact on their future.

I’d love to know in the comments, what’s worked for you when it comes to getting your kids into reading?

How much do you think it costs to renovate a garden?!⬇️

We are currently renovating the middle section of our garden, trying to do most of it ourselves to save money.

We found that using local businesses to us made a massive difference on prices saving us tonnes!

So this is how we’ve started the project, next up is the patio, so if you’ve ever done one before drop us some tips in the comments… I feel like we’re going to need them

Make sure you save this reel for later if you’re planning a garden renovation this year and follow @budgetingmumofficial to watch us transform our garden this year.
