I couldn’t help comparing it to Dubai at first… but it’s different. Calmer, quieter, more relaxed because it’s not as busy. and that gives it its own charm. A beautiful country with real character, a handful of things to do, and a vibe that grows on you.

Food wise, here’s everywhere we tried:
• Dokya – Turkish/Middle Eastern, 8.5/10
• Park Chinois – Chinese, 8.5/10
• Milk Bun – Burgers, 8.5/10
• Raffles – Afternoon tea, 8/10
• Flow – Coffee & desserts, 8/10
• Carluccio’s – Italian, 7/10
• Sarhad Premium – Pakistani, 7/10
• Villagio Mall Food Hall – Chipotle & Gardens, 6/10

And Parisa… sadly couldn’t get to try it this time.

We skipped Banana Island - we did something similar on our recent Egypt trip, and we wanted this one to stay purely a city break.

The sunset dhow cruise was a highlight though - £5 each and definitely worth doing.

If you’re into Arabian perfumes, we picked some up from Gissah - they’ve got a stall at Villagio Mall, Gate 3. Villagio also has a big food hall with loads of options, though the food hall at Place Vendôme Mall looked even better.

My son’s a car fanatic, so we stopped at the Lamborghini dealership - he got to sit in one and even turn the engine on. Special shoutout to Ahmed for looking after him so kindly.

Would I go back? Yes, I would. I always like returning to places once I understand them better - where things are, how to get around, what to skip and what to revisit. Taxi rides were fairly cheap, so moving around didn’t cost a huge amount.
We stayed at Centro Capital by Rotana - a nice stay with a connecting room, which made life much easier.
